ADA Urges an Investment in “Corps” Budget for Job Creation - Sep 29 2010

Americans for Democratic Action urged Congress today to drastically boost the funding for three federal programs that already train and employ tens of thousands of young adults: the Peace Corps, the Job Corps, and AmeriCorps. Highlighting the nation’s 25 percent youth unemployment rate, the organization is calling for increased appropriations for the three youth-targeted programs.


A Deceptive Job Recovery -- Real Unemployment at 16.8% - Mar 08 2010

The real unemployment rate released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of 16.8%, is much worse than the official 9.7% rate reported for February.  The long-sought improvement in the labor market is imperceptible at this time as more than 36,000 new jobless claims were filed.

“Clearly President Obama’s thoughtful and deliberate decision-making is a marked improvement from the cowboy diplomacy of the past Administration.  However, his plan to send 30,000 more U.S. soldiers to Afghanistan is a monumental mistake.  After consultation with our Board and our grassroots leadership, I feel compelled to express ADA’s opposition to the policy as stated.

Being a Woman is Not a Pre-Existing Condition - Nov 04 2009
