ADA Updates
Americans for Democratic Action has endorsed marriage equality as a key civil rights initiative for our organization and for the country. Today, ADA is taking another step forward by endorsing the National Equality March that will occur this weekend in Washington, DC. ADA is in support of full equality and in opposition to discrimination and intends to use the full legislative, political, policy and grassroots apparatus to fight for justice. ADA National Director, Michael J. Wilson, issued this statement: “When ADA cofounder Walter Reuther spoke at the 1963 March on Washington, he didn’t do it for himself, but for those who directly faced state-sanctioned discrimination. Today, in 2009, I join with the leaders of the National Equality March, not for myself, but for those who directly face state-sanctioned discrimination.” “Discrimination is discrimination. It’s wrong, it’s unconstitutional, and it goes directly against the founders of this nation who said that we were all created equal, and that we are endowed by Our Creator with certain inalienable rights, and that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. ADA supports marriage equality, and we are proud to join those who are willing to march for it, work for it, and fight for it.” Going to the National Equality March? March with us!
