You may have heard that some Republicans are working to derail the nomination of Eric Holder for Attorney General of the United States. We know Mr. Holder is the right choice to lead the Department of Justice. He is well respected in the legal community and has earned a reputation as a fair-minded, tough and a strong opponent of public corruption.
President Ronald Reagan nominated him to be an Associate Judge on the D.C. Superior Court. President William Clinton nominated him to be Deputy Attorney General. The Department of Justice needs strong leadership and Eric Holder is eminently qualified to be U.S. Attorney General.
On Wednesday, January 21, the Senate Judiciary Committee probably will vote on Eric Holder’s nomination to become U.S. Attorney General – our nation’s highest law enforcement officer.
Holder has earned a reputation as a fair-minded, tough and aggressive foe of political corruption. As U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and as Deputy Attorney General, Holder demonstrated his commitment to protecting the civil rights of all Americans. Holder’s record of impartiality and independence will restore credibility to the Justice Department by ensuring that the rights of people are paramount to partisanship.
At this historic time in our country, Eric Holder’s confirmation will shape the Justice Department—and our nation—for years to come. It will allow the Justice Department return to its mission: diligent, vigorous enforcement of the law and protection of the rights of all Americans, rich or poor, regardless of political affiliation or ideology. Eric Holder’s record of service on behalf of the American people proves that he is the right candidate to lead the Justice Department.
ADAction: Contact your senators today 202-224-3121 and urge them to confirm Eric Holder for U.S. Attorney General.
