Planned Giving:
Be a Partner in ADA's Future

Bequests

With your support, Americans for Democratic Action has been fighting for social and economic justice since 1947. You can help to ensure our mission continues for years to come with a gift in your will or living trust. By including a bequest to Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) in your planning, you are ensuring that we will be here to fight the voices of intolerance in America for generations to come.

Gifts in the form of bequests are an essential form of ADA support.  Several different kinds of bequests may be made, such as a bequest of a specific amount of cash, a fractional part of one's estate, or of a particular asset (such as real estate).

Download our Planned Giving brochure to learn more about how to make a bequest to ADA.

If you decide to include Americans for Democratic Action, Inc. or the Americans for Democratic Action Education Fund, Inc. in your plans, the first step is to seek the advice of your financial or legal advisor. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have, and please include our full legal name and Federal Tax ID numbers.

Gifts of Life Insurance

A gift of life insurance is similar to a bequest.  If you own a life insurance policy, you may use it to make a gift to ADA by naming Americans for Democratic Action, Inc. of Washington, D.C. as the owner and beneficiary of such policy.  You could also name ADA as the contingent beneficiary of the policy in the event that the primary beneficiary named on the policy predeceases you.

Learn more about adding an organization like Americans for Democratic Action to your life insurance policy.

Designation of Payments from Annuities and Other Policies

Ownership of annuity, pension or similar fixed-payment policies cannot be transferred to ADA; however, if you have such a policy and are allowed to designate a beneficiary, you may wish to consider designating Americans for Democratic Action, Inc. of Washington, D.C. In this way, ADA would receive benefits payable upon your death under the terms of your policy.

Ask your financial planner about how to designate Americans for Democratic Action as your annuity beneficiary.

Tax Deductible Contributions

Bequests to ADA are not fully deductible for purposes of the Federal estate tax laws and of the various states.  If your estate is large enough to require the payment of estate taxes, there is a related, fully tax deductible non-profit organization you may wish to consider.

A bequest to the Americans for Democratic Action Education Fund, Inc. of Washington, D.C. would go towards ADA's sister organization which is an independent, charitable entity that focuses on increasing public awareness through education and community organizing that builds capacity for change.  By making a bequest to the ADA Education Fund you may be able to reduce the taxes on your estate and increase the amount passing to your beneficiaries.
