Social Security provides inflation-proof bedrock security for workers in their old age, in the event of disability, and for survivors of workers who die prematurely. Social Security expanded to include those persons intermittently in the regular workforce. Stability can be achieved by eliminating the cap on income that is subject to the social security tax.
