ADA has always strongly supported international law, and called for full U.S. participation in those multinational organizations underpinning it. However, the record of the United States in the international arena has been sullied by a series of unilateral interventions, covert and overt, most of which have been condemned by ADA. ADA therefore proposes the following criteria for U.S. intervention overseas:

Any intervention must be multinational in nature and supported by the United Nations or appropriate regional body.
That such intervention be supported with congressional approval
That the goals of the intervention be clearly stated prior to taking any action.
