UN Convention on the Rights of the Child No. 464Adopted 2000 Whereas, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child has been ratified by virtually every state in the world except the United States; and Whereas, the U.S. Senate Committee has not voted on the convention; and Whereas, the failure to ratify the Convention allows the U.S., alone among the democracies, to continue to execute juveniles for offenses committed at ages as young as 16. Whereas, the Convention, through its executive committee, is advancing the welfare of the world's children. Therefore, Americans for Democratic Action urges that:
