ADA-Backed Progressives Do Well in Delaware Primary

Three out of four ADA-endorsed candidates in contested races in yesterday's Delaware Democratic primary won. The one exception was Wilmington city council-member Sherry Dorsey-Walker, who only narrowly failed to defeat 36-year incumbent state senator Bob Marshall. Both candidates had liberal credentials—especially on the very hot issue of fast-food worker rights—but Delaware ADA chose Dorsey-Walker for being more responsive.

Meanwhile, across the state line, Southeastern Pennsylvania ADA settled on a general election strategy to assist two key statehouse candidates.

Congress Needs to Act Now to Halt Corporate “Inversion” Schemes

Walgreens wants to renounce its U.S. “citizenship” and become a Swiss firm. Pfizer has been attempting to become a U.K. firm. Mylan, a long-time stalwart of the Pittsburgh economy(who’s CEO was recently named “Patriot of the Year”) wants to become a “citizen” of the Netherlands. Chicago-based AbbVie is paying $54 billion to buy Shire, so that it can become an Irish company. Corporate "inversion" is a growing problem!
